EA Special Alert: EEO-1 Pay Data Reporting Update

EEO-1 Update!

Component 2 Online Filing Update - File Specifications have been posted

The Upload File Specifications for your Component 2 EEO-1 data is now on-line. Go to and click on the "More Info" button to see a list of files posted on the website. Select "Upload File Specifications" for information and instructions on preparing your pay component data for upload.

The Component 2 EEO-1 Online filing system will be available on July 15th. However, users can only complete their report if they are manually entering the data.   According to the EEOC, the site will be capable of uploading data files on August 15th. Employers will need login credentials for the Component 2 website. System login information will be sent to employers via mail and email on July 15, 2019.

It is recommended that you review the FAQ's and additional information on the website. The EEOC has indicated that the EEO-1 report that employers filed for 2017 and 2018 will not be linked to the Component 2 data. Therefore, employers may select a different snapshot date (between October 1st to December 31st of 2017 and 2018).

As a reminder, employers are to use Box 1- W2 wage data and match that wage amount to the corresponding pay band for Component 2 reporting. The second part of Component 2 includes the hours worked by employees. For non-exempt employees you should include actual hours worked. For exempt full and part time employees you may use proxies of 40 hours and 20 hours per week or actual hours worked if tracked. The number of hours should be adjusted for PTO, vacation and paid or unpaid leave for exempt employees. In addition, if an exempt employee was employed for less than the entire calendar year, the hours should reflect how many weeks the employee actually worked. For example, if an employee was hired April 1, 2018 the proxy hours should reflect 40 hours per week for the weeks employed - April through December.

EA will continue to provide updates as additional information becomes available.
