Alleged ‘mass murder’ text brings terrorism charges for Lapeer students

The charges come after one of the students allegedly sent several text messages to a friend threatening to commit "mass murder" at the school off Oregon Drive in Mayfield Township, according to Lapeer County Prosecutor Michael Sharkey.

LAPEER COUNTY, MI -- Two Lapeer students have been charged after making an alleged threat against Zemmer Middle School.

The students, 14 and 15, were charged Tuesday, Feb. 21 under the Michigan Anti-Terrorism Act with making a terroristic threat, using a computer to commit a crime, and conspiracy to commit terrorism causing death.
