When West Michigan’s flooded rivers will finally crest, begin to fall

Many of the rivers won't fall below flood stage until next week.

 

GRAND RAPIDS, MI - West Michigan residents are dealing with flooded rivers which are either reaching their peaks today, or bracing for crests coming this weekend.

But in some cases, it will be several days before these waterways begin to fall back below flood stage, forecasters say.

Heavy rain and snowmelt combined earlier this week to start the flooding domino effect that's now causing the Grand River and the Kalamazoo River to surge past their flood stages.

The Kalamazoo River's crest topped a 1947 record today, city officials said.
